Job SummaryThe Health and Safety and Environmnent Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. The role focuses on preventing workplace injuries, minimizing environmental impact, promoting a strong safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across operations.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental, health, and safety regulations.Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate risks.Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and environmental events; determine root causes and implement corrective actions.Lead safety training programs and awareness campaigns for employees and contractors.Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, emissions, energy consumption, and resource utilization.Maintain required EHS records, permits, reports, and documentation.Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans, including drills and training exercises.Support audits and inspections conducted by regulatory authorities, customers, and certification bodies.Track and analyze EHS performance metrics and prepare management reports.Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and quality teams to integrate safety and environmental considerations into projects and processes.Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and environmental sustainability.Ensure contractor safety management and compliance with site requirements.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in EHS, safety engineering, environmental management, or a related role (experience requirements may vary by organization).Knowledge of applicable environmental and occupational health and safety regulations.Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.Familiarity with EHS management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, CSP, ASP, or equivalent are preferred.Skills and CompetenciesStrong understanding of safety principles, environmental regulations, and risk management methodologies.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and presentation abilities.Strong organizational and project management skills.Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting systems.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
