• Monitor and protect the university's IT infrastructure, networks, and systems against cyber threats and unauthorized access
• Implement and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint security solutions
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing
• Manage access control systems and ensure proper user authentication protocols (Active Directory, SSO, MFA)
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, breaches, and alerts in a timely manner
• Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and best practices across the university
• Monitor CCTV and physical security systems integrated with the IT department
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and university security standards
• Collaborate with IT team members to integrate security into all technology projects
• Prepare security reports and present findings to IT management and senior leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related field
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in IT security or cybersecurity roles
• Solid knowledge of network security, firewalls, VPNs, and security protocols
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and vulnerability scanners
• Familiarity with Windows/Linux server environments and Active Directory
• Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, or equivalent)
• Experience in incident response and security auditing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills — able to explain security risks to non-technical stakeholders
• Professional certifications are a plus: CEH, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent
